TBBP-A and MCCPs are to be included in EU RoHS

In May 2022, the European Commission published a proposal procedure for restricted substances under the RoHS Directive on its official website, proposing to add tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBP-A)  and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs)  to the list of restricted substances middle. The plan is expected to be adopted in the fourth quarter of 2022, and the final control requirements are subject to the final decision of the European Commission.    

As early as April 2018, Oeko-Institut e.V. initiated stakeholder consultations on seven assessed substances on its official website to review and revise the list of restricted substances in Annex II of RoHS under the project (Pack 15). And it issued a final report in March 2021, recommending adding tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBP-A) and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) to the list of restricted substances in Annex II of the RoHS directive.

Examples of common uses

2 medium-chain chlorinated paraffins 85535-85-9 287-477-0 As a flame retardant plasticizer for PVC insulation in cables, wires and other soft plastic or rubber components, including polyurethane, polysulfide, acrylic and butyl sealants.
