The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the latest news that the national standard GB4943.1-2022 “Audio Video, Information Technology and Communication Technology Equipment Part I: Safety Requirements” ，which was released on July 19, 2022, and will be officially implemented on August 1, 2023. The latest standard GB 4943.1-2022 will completely replace all GB 4943.1-2011 and GB 8898-2011 standards, and will adopt the IEC international standard: IEC 62368-1:2018.
The new version of the national standard considers 6 types of hazard sources such as electricity-induced injury, electricity-induced fire, injury caused by harmful substances, mechanical injury, thermal burns, and sound and light radiation. And corresponding safety protection measures are taken for different hazard sources. It is a very comprehensive and detailed specification of the safety requirements that electronic products should meet. The applicable object of the standard is “Security requirements for electronic equipment in the fields of audio and video, information technology and communication technology, business and office”. For example: audio, televisions, computers, power amplifiers, battery-powered products (mobile phones, Bluetooth headsets, sports bracelets, etc.), power adapters, copiers, printers, terminal equipment, shredders, and other consumer electronic products.
The new version of the standard has a 12-month transition period from publication to implementation. It needs to be enforced as a mandatory national standard. After the standard is officially implemented, the market supervision department will also conduct supervision and spot checks on electronic products in the field of production and circulation according to the new version of the national standard.
