US FCC certification FRN registration system (CORES) update

On May 27, 2022, the US FCC officially issued Announcement No. DA 22-508, and the old FCC registration system CORES (Commission Registration System), which was enabled before 2016, will be officially closed on July 15, 2022.

At that time, only the registration system CORES 2, which was launched in 2016, can log in to register the company’s FRN code (FCC registration number) or update and maintain information.

If the company has been using the old CORES registration system, it needs to create a new FCC user account in the FCC user registration system, and then use the new user account to log in to CORES 2 https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do system that associates user accounts with corporate FRNs. Although the old CORES system will remain open until July 15, the registration of the old CORES system is no longer supported. New enterprise FRNs need to register with the new CORES 2 system.

The main differences and precautions between the old and new systems:

1. The FRN applied for by the old CORES system is free to use, while new users of the CORES 2 system need to pay an annual fee (the specific amount is subject to the official update information later);

2. The FRN number that has been registered in the old CORES can still be used at present, but on August 5th, there will be a red light status information display, requiring you to register a new RFN in CORES 2 and bind the company’s original GC number. After August 26, the annual fee will be paid uniformly;

3. Registering an account in CORES 2 is to use the mailbox (It is the mailbox when applying for GC.) as the account name for registration, so as to be associated with the company’s original GC number;
