South Korea's ministry of knowledge economy has implemented the minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) in accordance with the energy efficiency labeling and standards regulations since 1992. As of January 1, 2009, adaptors (including AC to AC and AC to DC adapters) and mobile phone chargers must be EK certified and energy efficient certified if they need to be sold in the south Korean market.
