A brief introduction to Taiwan BSMI certificate

1. Introduction to BSMI:
BSMI  is the abbreviation of “Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection”. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, from July 1, 2005, the electronic and electrical products entering the Taiwan market of China will be regulated in terms of electromagnetic compatibility and safety regulations.
2. BSMI certification mode:
Taiwan BSMI certification is mandatory. It has both EMC and SAFETY  requirements. However, BSMI currently does not have factory inspections, but must act in accordance with Bureau of Standards regulations. Therefore, the certification model of BSMI is: product inspection + registration supervision.
3. BSMI certified products:
(1) Compulsory Commodity Inspection Mark: electrical products (such as home appliances), electronic products (such as information equipment and entertainment audio-visual equipment products), mechanical products (such as power tools and equipment), chemical products products (such as tires and toys).
(2) Voluntary Orthographic Mark: Industrial products, building materials, electrical wires, home appliances, automobile and motorcycle parts, industrial raw materials, or those with orthographic marks on competitors’ products.
(3) Voluntary Product Verification Mark: important safety components, digital set-top boxes, lamp sockets, battery chargers, restricted hazardous substances, lithium batteries, vehicle electromagnetic compatibility, sports and fitness equipment, etc.
